1 | Who are the members of KATI? |
Members include professional interpreters/translators who completed a master’s course on interpretation and translation and/or currently work in Korea, professors and instructors teaching interpretation and translation in undergraduate/graduate schools, etc. | |
2 | What kind of benefits does KATI offer for members? |
All members are given free pass for seminars held more than 3 times a year. They have access to “Members Only” bulletin and Jobs, and appear on the Member Search results with name, language, email address, and specialized field. A full member can receive business cards, a certificate, support for family events, and labor and tax consulting. | |
3 | How can I attend KATI seminars? |
First, click the link for registration in the email sent by the Secretariat to KATI members. Fill out the registration form and click “Submit” You will receive a confirmation email automatically. Lastly, pay for the “Networking Lunch” or the fee to KATI’s bank account provided in the email. | |
4 | Can anyone access the “Jobs” bulletin board? |
Anyone can post recruiting information on Jobs, but only members can read the postings. | |
5 | How is KATI different from other associations and institutes related to interpretation and translation? |
KATI is the only non-profit incorporated association recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, protecting the interests and rights of professional interpreters and translators in Korea. It has no link to for-profit interpretation/translation agencies with confusing names. | |
6 | Does KATI connect members with clients? |
KATI does not connect members with clients directly. Clients can contact professional interpreters and translators by using “Member Search” or recruit on the Jobs bulletin. | |
7 | What kind of personal information does “Member Search” show? |
Search results show name, language, and specialized field of members. It can also show the email address of a member when she/he agrees with it. |
